Don’t make children feel like Failures

The mission of Loyola Centre for Media and communications (LCMC)in empowering young people amidst global adversities continues to bear fruits for the last two months. The months of March and April has seen the center bring on board experts to empower Parents, guardians and religious formators in the holistic development of young people under their child identity formation (CIF) Program.

Yesterday 2^nd May 2024, Fr. Faustin BinaMungu a Jesuits Priest and child safeguarding officer, facilitated a virtual session on Psycho-social human development. This online interaction was the sixth of the seven weeks formation program organized by LCMC

In his transformative talk, Father BinaMungu tells parents to go along with their kids as they grow up. He warns that if parents don’t support their kids well at any stage, it will harm their overall growth. Moreover, he said knowing our children’s abilities is crucial to handle them without hurting their feelings. “Don’t make children feel a sense of failure.” He cautioned.

The Jesuit Priest adds that parents should be patient enough with their children. “If your child struggles in one area look for another area in which they can shine.” Says Fr. BinaMungu. Additionally, he warns parents against preconceived ideas of what is worth learning or worth pursuing for children because they are gifted differently.
