MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS: DECONSTRUCTION WEBINAR BY LCMC
VIRTUALPope Leo XIV's Landmark Encyclical
A Communication Perspective on Artificial Intelligence
In his landmark encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV reflects on one of the defining questions of our time: what does it mean to be human in an age increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence? Far more than a document about technology, the encyclical examines the implications of AI for truth, communication, human dignity, education, relationships, work, and the future of society. This webinar offers a communication centered reading of Magnifica Humanitas, exploring how the rise of intelligent systems is influencing the way people communicate, form opinions, make decisions, and understand themselves and others. Drawing on insights from media and communication studies, systems thinking, and Christian discernment, the webinar illuminates the opportunities and concerns raised by the encyclical and their relevance for religious leaders, formators, clergy, religious men and women, educators, and lay professionals engaged in the mission of the Church in a rapidly changing digital culture. Through practical examples and demonstrations, the webinar also serves as a guide to understanding the encyclical from a communication perspective and applying its insights to contemporary realities shaped by artificial intelligence. At its core, Magnifica Humanitas invites us to reflect not only on what artificial intelligence can do, but also on what it means to be human and how emerging technologies can contribute to authentic human flourishing and the common good.FREE -
